Welcome. My personal website, barryhampe.com has taken up temporary residence here on the website for my book, while I create some new websites and get some new projects underway.
These will include a blog on making documentaries that I've been promising since last summer. Also a blog on creating client videos. This was originally planned as a book, but the field is changing so fast that collective knowledge is much better than the thoughts of just one guy, even if he's been doing it for a long time.
I'm also working on a new book that has grown out of a series of presentations I made at technical conferences held by the Media Communications Association Internation (MCA-I, formerly ITVA). The first was called, "Writing for People Who Hate to Write." But since everyone who attended the session actually was a writer or wanted to be a writer, the next time I gave it, I called it, "How to Write Almost Anything for Almost Anybody." And that's the working title of the book.
I'm also still thinking about a book or blog focused on the behavioral documentary. A documentary built with visual evidence will always be more powerful than one based on sound bites from interviews. But, unfortunately, the journalistic model—narrator, sound bite, B-roll—is in the ascendancy right now, and films that show rather than tell are few and far between.
